Job summary

BNZ in Auckland is seeking a Technical Specialist to join the tīma, focusing on Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms, with a hybrid model (three days in the office, two days flexible).

You’ll own the virtual machine lifecycle, develop reusable Terraform patterns, and create standard operating environment images for Windows and Linux. You'll also create Ansible playbooks and improve automation and engineering practices across BNZ.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience managing virtual machines across full lifecycle (on‑prem and cloud).
• Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Knowledge of SOE image creation and maintenance.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting.
• Experience with developing and maintaining Ansible Automation Platform playbooks.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Understanding patching, security, compliance, and operational risk in enterprise environments.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work with engineering and delivery teams.
• Continuous improvement focus on simplifying and automating platform services.

Responsibilities

• Managing and improving Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms.
• Supporting full VM lifecycle: provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, decommissioning (on‑prem and cloud).
• Developing and maintaining reusable Terraform patterns for consistent infra delivery.
• Creating and maintaining SOE images for Windows and Linux.
• Creating playbooks in Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
• Troubleshooting complex platform issues and partnering with platform teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions.
