Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer in Auckland. The role is hybrid: three days in the office and two days flexible, focusing on building and running BNZ's cloud platforms using AWS and Azure.
You will automate operations, drive security, reliability, and developer enablement, and collaborate with engineers to mature platform standards and self-service capabilities across our cloud environments.
Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way." We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same. Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us. At BNZ, our Platforms Domain is focused on enabling engineers through platform products that are simple to use, secure, resilient, and fit for purpose. We embrace Infrastructure as Code, automation, and cloud-native engineering practices to help teams deliver great outcomes for our customers. The Cloud team builds and operates BNZ's core AWS and Azure platforms, enabling hundreds of engineers to build, deploy, and run applications safely and efficiently across cloud environments. We also support related infrastructure technologies and services that form part of BNZ's wider container ecosystem. Our mission is simple: reduce complexity, automate wherever possible, and create self-service experiences that help engineering teams move faster. Whether it's pre-configured cloud environments, guard rails and default compliance, automation tooling, or developer enablement, we're constantly looking for ways to make life easier for our customers. We're a team that values learning, experimentation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. If you're passionate about cloud technologies, platform engineering, and helping others succeed, you'll feel right at home.
We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to) and they told us the following about the role. This role will be based in Auckland. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.
We're a collaborative, high-trust team that enjoys solving complex problems together. We value autonomy, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing, giving people the freedom to drive improvements and make an impact. You'll work alongside experienced engineers who are passionate about cloud technologies, automation, and helping others succeed.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us! We're bold thinkers who are taking brave steps to create a company that people want to work for, and customers want to bank with.
