Job summary

Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer in Auckland. The role is hybrid: three days in the office and two days flexible, focusing on building and running BNZ's cloud platforms using AWS and Azure.

You will automate operations, drive security, reliability, and developer enablement, and collaborate with engineers to mature platform standards and self-service capabilities across our cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Strong IaC skills and automation experience.
• CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation.
• GitOps concepts and tooling familiarity.
• Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Observability and monitoring tool experience.
• Networking, security, and platform troubleshooting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and improve core AWS and Azure platforms.
• Automate platform operations, provisioning, patching, and compliance activities.
• Solve complex platform, reliability, and performance challenges.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve platform adoption and self-service capabilities.
• Work with the team to create platform standards, documentation, and engineering guidance.
• Help drive improvements in security, reliability, automation, and developer experience.
