Job summary

Future Skills seeks a dedicated Student Services Specialist – Pastoral Care to champion learner wellbeing and success at our Albany Campus in Auckland. The role focuses on safeguarding learners’ personal, emotional, and academic needs, while serving as a trusted contact for learners and staff to boost retention and engagement.

You will connect learners with internal and external support, maintain confidential records, and advocate for targeted academic assistance as needed.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in education, counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Experience working in learner support, pastoral care, or related services
• Experience working with diverse learner populations
• Experience in event planning and learner engagement activities is desirable
• Familiarity with NZQA's Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of Learners

Responsibilities

• Timely response to learner referrals and requests for pastoral care support.
• Delivery of confidential and appropriate pastoral care interventions
• Maintenance of confidential records for all learner support interactions
• Learner engagement and well-being initiatives (including orientation, graduation, and employability workshops), contributing to improved learner retention and success outcomes
