Job summary

Hamilton City Libraries is seeking a Ringa Hapai Service Representative to join our Libraries team at Dinsdale Library. This part‑time role offers 20 hours per week, with shifts including Monday and Saturday slots, supporting our community with welcoming service, book handling, and technology assistance.

You will issue books, shelve, help patrons with learning and job search tools, and help run programmes from story-time to coding classes.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer service environment with diverse patrons.
• Interest in running children’s programmes and leading events.
• Positive, welcoming attitude and ability to create an inclusive environment.
• Confident computer use and cash handling.

Responsibilities

• Issue books, search for titles, process returns and shelving.
• Support the public with using technology for learning, job hunting and connectivity.
• Run community programmes and events from story-time to coding classes.
• Connect people with resources, groups and heritage.
• Provide reading recommendations to customers.
