Job summary

DB Breweries in Auckland is seeking a detail‑focused Packaging Technician to join the team. You will help ensure beer, cider and RTDs leave the line at consistent quality and work safely in a fast‑paced Packaging environment.

This hands‑on role requires operating and improving packaging machinery, supporting TPM/5S/Kaizen initiatives, and collaborating with planning, maintenance and logistics to keep production on track.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • 3–5 years' packaging or maintenance experience in brewing, FMCG, or food and beverage.
  • Experience using maintenance systems and continuous improvement practices.
  • Comfort with using phones/tablets, emails, and online training.
  • Strong attention to detail and clear communication.
  • Team-focused with willingness to learn and share knowledge.
  • Full NZ work rights.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and improve packaging machinery to meet production targets.
  • Ensure products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in TPM Continuous Improvement using 5S and Kaizen.
  • Carry out reactive and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with planning, maintenance, and logistics to keep operations running.
  • Follow and update SOPs and support team training.
  • Be flexible and move across different areas as needed.

About the Role

At DB Breweries, we don't just brew beer - we craft experiences. We're looking for a detail-focused Packaging Technician to join the team and help make sure our beer, cider, and RTDs leave the line at the right quality, every time.

This is a hands-on role in our Packaging team, suited to someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and takes pride in working safely and efficiently.

What you'll be doing:
  • Operate, maintain, and improve packaging machinery to meet production targets
  • Make sure products meet our quality and safety standards
  • Take part in our TPM Continuous Improvement programme, using tools such as 5S and Kaizen to improve performance and reduce losses
  • Carry out reactive and preventive maintenance tasks on time
  • Work closely with planning, maintenance, and logistics teams to keep operations running smoothly
  • Follow and update Standard Operating Procedures and support team training
  • Be flexible and move across different areas as needed
What you'll bring:
  • A mechanical or electrical trade qualification (NZCE, Advanced Trade Certificate, or similar)
  • 3-5 years' experience in packaging or maintenance in brewing, FMCG, or food and beverage environments
  • Experience using maintenance systems and continuous improvement practices
  • Confidence using technology, including:
  • Using a phone or tablet
  • Checking and responding to emails regularly
  • Completing required training online
  • Using basic systems to record data or raise issues
  • Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
  • A positive, team-focused approach
  • A willingness to learn and share knowledge
  • Full-time work rights in New Zealand
