Job summary

DB Breweries is seeking a detail-focused Packaging Technician to ensure beer, cider and RTDs leave the line at right quality. This hands-on role sits in a fast-paced packaging team and emphasizes safe, efficient operations.

You will operate and maintain packaging machinery, participate in TPM improvements, and collaborate with planning, maintenance and logistics to keep lines running smoothly. A trade qualification and 3–5 years in brewing or related fields are required.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification required (mechanical or electrical).
  • 3–5 years in packaging or maintenance in brewing, FMCG, or food & beverage.
  • Experience using maintenance systems and continuous improvement practices.
  • Proficient with mobile devices (phone/tablet) and email.
  • Ability to record data and raise issues in basic systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and clear communication.
  • Positive, team-focused and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and improve packaging machinery to meet production targets.
  • Ensure products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in TPM Continuous Improvement (5S, Kaizen) to reduce losses.
  • Carry out reactive and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate with planning, maintenance and logistics for smooth operations.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures and support team training.
  • Be flexible and move across areas as needed.

About the Role

At DB Breweries, we don't just brew beer - we craft experiences. We're looking for a detail-focused Packaging Technician to join the team and help make sure our beer, cider, and RTDs leave the line at the right quality, every time.

This is a hands‑on role in our Packaging team, suited to someone who enjoys a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in working safely and efficiently.

What you'll be doing:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve packaging machinery to meet production targets
  • Make sure products meet our quality and safety standards
  • Take part in our TPM Continuous Improvement programme, using tools such as 5S and Kaizen to improve performance and reduce losses
  • Carry out reactive and preventive maintenance tasks on time
  • Work closely with planning, maintenance, and logistics teams to keep operations running smoothly
  • Follow and update Standard Operating Procedures and support team training
  • Be flexible and move across different areas as needed

What you'll bring:

  • A mechanical or electrical trade qualification (NZCE, Advanced Trade Certificate, or similar)
  • 3-5 years' experience in packaging or maintenance in brewing, FMCG, or food and beverage environments
  • Experience using maintenance systems and continuous improvement practices
  • Confidence using technology, including:
  • Using a phone or tablet
  • Checking and responding to emails regularly
  • Completing required training online
  • Using basic systems to record data or raise issues
  • Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
  • A positive, team-focused approach
  • A willingness to learn and share knowledge
