Refrigerated Couriers Limited (RCL) is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Operations & Business Development Manager to join our team in Hamilton.

This is a key hands-on management position for someone who understands the fast-paced transport and logistics environment and enjoys taking ownership of day-to-day operations while also identifying opportunities to grow the business.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring RCL continues to deliver a safe, efficient, reliable and high-quality service to our customers. You will also contribute to sales and business development, building strong customer relationships and identifying new opportunities for growth.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of RCL's operations, including drivers, contractors, rosters and runs, while working closely with customers and the wider team.

You will also provide management support and cover for the General Manager when required, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

Operations:

• Manage the day-to-day operations, including drivers, contractors, rosters and runs.
• Monitor service delivery and proactively resolve operational issues.
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity and cost control.
• Ensure health & safety, vehicle compliance and operational requirements are consistently maintained.
• Support the successful implementation of new customers, contracts and services.
• Provide management cover for the General Manager when required.

Sales & Business Development

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Assist with sales, quotes, tenders, pricing and contract negotiations.
• Identify opportunities to increase RCL's revenue, customer base and service offering.
• Build a strong understanding of customer needs and translate these into commercially viable solutions.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong operational capability with commercial and business development skills.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in transport, logistics, courier, freight or a similar operational environment.
• Experience managing staff, contractors or operational teams.
• Proven ability to identify business opportunities and build strong customer relationships.
• Some sales and business development experience.
• Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills and commercial acumen.
• A strong understanding of compliance and health & safety requirements.
• A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment.
