Job summary

Moving on Management Limited—Mount Eden, Auckland—is seeking a Fleet Operations & Transport Manager. This hands-on leadership role oversees safe, compliant, and efficient vehicle fleet operations and transport activities, with duties spanning compliance, maintenance coordination, and staff training.

You will report to the Operations & Logistics Manager and perform practical operational work, including Class 5 driving, furniture moving, and truck packing when required.

Qualifications

• Current NZ Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Experience in fleet, transport, logistics or vehicle operations.
• Heavy-vehicle driving experience.
• Dangerous Goods experience (Desirable).
• Ability to train and support other employees.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Fleet Operations & Transport Manager

This is a hands-on management role responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of our vehicle fleet and transport activities.

Reporting to the Operations & Logistics Manager, you will take responsibility for fleet operations, vehicle compliance, maintenance coordination, driver compliance, Transport Service Licence (TSL) requirements and dangerous-goods transport requirements.

The role also includes practical operational work, including Class 5 driving, furniture moving, truck packing and staff training when required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation and readiness of the company vehicle fleet
• Coordinate vehicle servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs
• Manage vehicle compliance, registration and certification requirements
• Coordinate vehicle allocation and transport requirements
• Support compliance with Moving On's Transport Service Licence (TSL)
• Monitor driver licences, endorsements and competency requirements
• Manage dangerous-goods transport compliance and training requirements
• Ensure vehicles, loads and equipment meet safety requirements
• Monitor truck packing, load restraint and safe loading practices
• Identify and address fleet, transport and safety risks
• Maintain accurate fleet, driver and compliance records
• Coordinate vehicle breakdowns, incidents and recovery
• Train and support staff in vehicle use, truck packing and safe moving practices
• Support Team Leaders and moving crews with operational requirements
• Drive Class 5 vehicles and assist with furniture moves when required

What we're looking for

We require:

• Current NZ Class 5 driver's licence
• Experience in fleet, transport, logistics or vehicle operations
• Heavy-vehicle driving experience
• Dangerous Goods experience
• Experience with vehicle maintenance and compliance
• Experience with transport operations and/or fleet management
• Good knowledge of truck packing and load restraint
• Understanding of health & safety requirements
• Ability to maintain accurate records and manage compliance requirements
• Ability to train and support other employees
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Reliable, professional and practical approach
• Experience in furniture moving, removals or transport is highly desirable
• Experience handling delicate items and artwork is desirable

Out-of-town travel

Must be willing to travel for work, including occasional overnight stays.
