Job summary

Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands in Paihia is seeking an Overnight Operations Lead to manage all hotel activities during the night shift, ensuring guest comfort and safety. You will oversee nightly audits, respond to issues, and hand over clearly to the day team.

The role requires 1–2 years in front office or night audit, independent judgment, and strong guest service skills. Hours are 40 per week, with a permanent full-time contract.

Hotel: Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands

Location: 58 Seaview Road, Paihia

Employment Type: Full-Time, permanent waged role. Monday to Sunday.

Hours: 40 hours guaranteed per week

Rate per hour: $29.00 - $31.00

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for the overall operation of the hotel overnight. The successful candidate will deliver exceptional guest service, oversee hotel security and safety, complete nightly auditing processes, and respond to operational issues, ensuring a seamless transition to the day team.

• Manage all overnight hotel operations and act as the primary contact for guests during the night shift.
• Deliver exceptional guest service, including handling enquiries, requests, and complaints.
• Conduct and complete the nightly audit process, including reconciliation of accommodation and food & beverage transactions.
• Monitor the security and safety of the hotel, guests, and team members, responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
• Prepare daily operational and financial reports and ensure an effective handover to the morning team.
• Maintain presentation standards within reception and public areas.

Essential Requirements

• 1-2years Previous front office, hotel operations, or night audit experience.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when managing the property overnight.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and guest service skills.
• Ability to work permanent overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Preferred Requirements

• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Duty Manager's Certificate
