Job summary

Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand is seeking an experienced operational leader to head the national GPEP1 RMO Support Unit. You will oversee recruitment, onboarding, employment administration and payroll interfaces for registrars across Aotearoa, ensuring a consistent, supportive experience and strong performance.

With a national remit, you will build an effective operating model, manage risks, and partner with RNZCGP and training providers to deliver a reliable service.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in health, management, business, HR or related discipline.
• Five+ years in healthcare operations with operational team leadership.
• Experience in health workforce, RMO support, HR or workforce planning.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, sensitive matters and multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of employment practices and agreements; interpret policies.
• Strong judgement, communication and relationship-management skills.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, cultural safety and inclusive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the GPEP1 RMO Support Unit with visible, supportive leadership, coaching and workforce planning.
• Build a strong operating model with procedures, templates, guidelines and escalation paths.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employment administration, leave and payroll coordination.
• Provide responsive operational advice and resolve employment-related matters for registrars.
• Manage operational risk, performance monitoring and reporting with insights for decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement to improve processes and service outcomes.
• Build partnerships with RNZCGP, training providers and Health NZ teams across employment and operations.
• Represent the service nationally in relevant forums and provide timely advice to stakeholders.
