Job summary

The Terrace School (Alexandra) in New Zealand seeks an experienced Learning Support Coordinator to join the Dunstan Learning Support Cluster. The role is full-time, prorated across three sites with travel support available.

You will strengthen inclusive practice, coordinate learning support, and build staff capability through coaching and professional learning, working with senior leaders, teachers, whānau and external agencies.

Qualifications

• It is required to hold current New Zealand teacher registration.
• Experience in learning support and inclusive education is preferred.
• Ability to coach and build staff capability across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate learning support across three schools (The Terrace, Millers Flat, Poolburn).
• Provide coaching, modelling and professional learning for staff.
• Use assessment data to inform interventions and support.
• liaise with the Ministry of Education, RTLB and external agencies.
• Apply culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi commitment.

The Terrace, Millers Flat and Poolburn Schools are seeking an experienced, collaborative and highly relational educator to join the Dunstan Learning Support Cluster as our Learning Support Coordinator (LSC).

We are seeking someone who holds current New Zealand teacher registration, and can build on the great work done, continuing to move our Learning Support programmes forward. Whilst this is a full-time position, employed by The Terrace School, this role is prorated between the 3 school sites. Support for travel is available.

This key role will strengthen inclusive practice within our schools, ensuring all learners are supported to participate, progress and experience success. Working alongside senior leaders, teachers, learning assistants, whānau and external agencies, the LSC will coordinate learning support and build staff capability to meet the diverse learning, wellbeing and behavioural needs of our students.

The successful candidate will:

• demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive education and equitable outcomes;
• possess sound knowledge of effective, evidence-based learning support practices;
• build staff capability in each of our schools through coaching, modelling, and professional learning;
• use assessment and other relevant data to inform interventions and support;
• coordinate targeted interventions, transitions, and support for learners with additional needs;
• build strong, respectful relationships with students, staff, and whānau;
• liaise with the Ministry of Education, RTLB, and other external agencies for resourcing and PLD;
• apply culturally responsive practice and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi; and
• be solutions-focussed and passionate about every tamariki feeling included and can succeed.
