Woodlands Primary School offers an exciting and complex role with huge scope to enhance leadership development, inclusivity, equity, wellbeing and success for all of our learners. The role includes 0.2FTE Learning Support Coordinator, 0.4FTE Structure Literacy Intervention, 0.1 FTE Assistant Principal, 0.1FTE ORs Specialist Teacher, 0.1FTE Maths Acceleration and 0.1FTE Classroom Release across the school.
We are a Year 1 to 6 Mitey School. We have 5 classes in a wonderfully rural environment in Southland. Our local community, environment and curriculum are hugely important to our strategic plan, as is inclusion, equity, wellbeing and achievement for all of our students.
The successful applicant will enjoy the challenge of a complex role, be highly organised, a strong team member with drive to work independently, to meet the needs of our students and team. They will plan and provide targeted teaching; model effective practice; facilitate collaborative planning; provide opportunities for teacher observation; and lead professional learning for staff and possible workshops for whānau. Coordinate support for learners with additional needs; working with teachers, teacher aides, whānau, MOE, RTLB and external agencies; supporting referrals and individual plans; monitoring interventions; and attending learning support meetings.
The successful applicant will work closely with the principal and deputy, contribute to school-wide improvement and manage the school when the principal and deputy are off-site. Leadership experience is an advantage, but applicants with leadership aspirations are encouraged.
We seek someone with exceptional structured literacy knowledge, strengths in inclusivity and wellbeing, training and experience who can build positive relationships and confidently teach and manage learners across Years 1-6.
Flexibility is essential in our small-school environment. At times, the successful applicant may cover a class, undertake an additional duty and step into a leadership roles.
