Job summary

Meridian Energy is seeking a Modelling Services Lead to guide a team of modelling specialists. You will turn complex energy analysis into clear, actionable advice that informs portfolio decisions and supports New Zealand’s energy future.

You will lead, coach and develop a high-calibre team, ensuring robust methodologies, cross-training and ownership of critical models, while advancing in-house modelling capabilities to meet changing market needs.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in a highly numerate and analytical discipline and substantial modelling experience.
• Demonstrated ability to coach technical experts and build bench strength in a specialist team.
• Strong understanding of value drivers and productivity in energy markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a modelling team, setting direction and priorities.
• Ensure documented methodologies and cross-training to remove key person risk.
• Operate and develop the in-house energy market model and related services for portfolio decisions.
• Develop new models to support Value Optimisation, aligning with wind and hydro operations.
• Support portfolio management and finance with robust modelling insights.
• Evaluate market-related projects and upgrade business cases.
