Job summary

Aurora Energy in Dunedin, NZ, seeks a forecasting specialist to own the network demand forecasts for Otago and Central Otago. You will use customer behavior, weather, and smart meter data to build and refine models and quantify uncertainty for decision making.

You will design data pipelines, validate models, and communicate insights to planners, operations and regulatory teams to inform investment decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience building forecasting models for large datasets.
• Ability to explain uncertainty and defend chosen methods.
• Experience in data integration and governance.

Responsibilities

• Develop demand forecasts using diverse data sources.
• Test scenarios and communicate forecast ranges clearly.
• Build and improve data pipelines and automated forecasting processes.
• Document methods; ensure traceability and reproducibility.
• Support capacity assessments and regulatory reporting.
• Translate findings into actionable guidance for planners and executives.
