Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Team Leader to guide the Project Assessment team within the Building Consent Processing division. Based at the Albany Hub, this role delivers high-quality, compliant consent decisions while championing customer-focused service and continuous improvement.

You will lead a regional team, ensure adherence to accreditation and policies, and drive efficient, consistent practices to enhance customer satisfaction and outcomes for Auckland’s safe, sustainable buildings.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a building regulatory, construction, or similarly related environment.
• Proven experience managing or supervising a large team.
• Extensive experience in a building consents processing environment.
• Sound knowledge of policies, local government legislation and relevant case law.
• Strong process orientation, negotiation and conflict resolutions skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and champion continuous improvement initiatives, actively fostering a culture of ongoing development within your team.
• Provide oversight of building consent application processing, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
• Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services.
• Share your professional expertise through training, helping to broaden the skills and knowledge of others and support their development as professionals.
