Job summary

Auckland Council's Building Consent department is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to lead and mentor the Project Assessment team in Auckland CBD. You will guide the team, ensure efficient processing of building consents for residential and commercial applications, and contribute to shaping Auckland's built environment with a focus on development and professional growth.

Key duties include reviewing consent plans, mentoring staff, implementing training, and driving improvements in team

Qualifications

• Experience in the building industry, preferably in a BCA environment.
• Sound understanding of the Building Act 2004, Local Government Act 2002, and Resource Management Act 1991.
• Proven ability to lead teams and mentor staff.
• Strong leadership and strategic clarity.
• Ability to develop training initiatives for team development.

Responsibilities

• Review building consent plans and make informed compliance decisions.
• Mentor and coach processing officers on technical matters.
• Develop and implement training initiatives to enhance team skills.
• Collaborate with team leaders and managers to address non-conformance issues.
• Drive measurable improvements in team capability, operational performance, and output quality.
