Te Puia Springs Hospital is seeking a reliable and motivatedKitchen Hand to join our Domestic / Kitchen Team. This is a casual rolethat plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of thehospital kitchen. You will support the team in delivering nutritious andwholesome meals to patients, manuhiri (guests), and kaimahi (staff) whilemaintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Food Preparation & Service:
  • Kitchen Maintenance & Hygiene: Clear and wash dishes, execute kitchen cleaning according to sanitation schedules, and strictly adhere to food safety rules.
  • Stock & Inventory Control: Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, completing inventory records, and maintaining First-In, First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain daily kitchen logs and inventorydocuments, and promptly report any food safety risks, low stock, or damaged goods to the Kitchen Team Leader.
  • Teamwork & Professionalism: Work collaboratively with domestic and kitchen staff while maintaining professional interactions with patients, manuhiri, and whānau.
  • Qualification: A relevant food service or hospitality qualification.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Basic food safety and hygiene knowledge, basic food prep skills, and excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Work Style: Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility: Reliability and flexibility to work 7-day rotating rosters.
  • Physical Fitness: Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 20kg.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or aged care environment.
