Quantity Surveyor - Commercial Construction

Our client is a distinguished commercial construction company with over 10 years of dedicated service in the Wellington region. They are renowned for their adeptness in fostering strong client relationships, collaborative teamwork, and cultivating an exceptional team culture. Their commitment to excellence has garnered them a loyal base of repeat clients, ensuring a robust project pipeline - a significant reassurance in the current market landscape.

They are currently seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Upper Hutt.

Skills, experience and attributes needed

• At least 3 years working experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the NZ construction industry.
• Pricing variations efficiently and accurately
• Assessing subcontractor claims and variations and creating payment schedules
• Proven experience in estimation and tendering - you must have led tender submissions
• Deals with conflict well, is solution focused and can keep calm under pressure
• Experience in negotiating directly with clients and resolving issues
• Experience in developing new systems and processes and constantly looks to improve efficiency (experience in transitioning systems isn't critical, but must be happy to chip in when the company adopt a new system. The company are always looking to grow and improve.
• Experience or capability in working with site managers to deliver a project where required, e.g. advice, programmes, assisting with problem solving, attending site meetings etc.
• Has ability to create a basic programme in Microsoft Project (an advantage but not essential as can be taught)
• Capable of managing several projects between $100K and $3-4M at any one time (should be a able to administer 3-4 projects depending on complexity)
• Proven experience working with modern Quantity Surveying and Project Management tools e.g. QS2000, Bluebeam, CostX, Workbench, Procore etc
• Has a good to excellent understanding of the CCA, 3910, 3915 and NZIA contract conditions
