Job summary

BNZ is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join the Tech Strategy & Architecture team in a hybrid Auckland role. You will shape BNZ's payments architecture, aligning business strategy with delivery across people, processes, information, and technology.

You will bring enterprise or solution architecture experience across large-scale transformations, cloud, microservices, and secure integration, with deep knowledge of NZ payments, ISO 20022, and regulatory open banking.

Qualifications

• Extensive enterprise/solution architecture experience in large-scale transformations.
• Proficiency in cloud, microservices, and secure integration.
• Knowledge of NZ payments environment, ISO 20022, and PCI DSS.
• Understanding of identity, consent, and authorization; regulatory open banking.

Responsibilities

• Set target states and transition roadmaps for payments architecture across domestic and international domains.
• Guide integration across payment platforms, channels, records, core banking, ledgers and external providers.
• Define reusable patterns for APIs, events, messaging, and batch processing with data ownership and security in mind.
• Define availability, performance, observability, and failover requirements across services.
• Lead modernisation, migration, and decommissioning decisions balancing value, cost and risk.
• Coach architects and delivery teams; provide governance and risk escalation.
