Job summary

ATT is seeking motivated individuals to join the HVAC/electrical trades apprenticeship in Ashburton. You will earn a regular wage while you train, with pay increases as you reach milestones and gain new skills.

You’ll work with a team of highly skilled tradespeople and receive support from an Apprentice and Employment Consultant to keep you on track. Completed pre-trade courses are highly regarded, but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Punctual, dependable and show up on time.
• Good with your hands and comfortable using tools.
• Solid math skills (NCEA 2) and physics studies preferred.
• Some prior job experience (labour, holiday work or casual jobs).
• NZ driver’s license (restricted or full) and reliable transport to work.
• Clean criminal record and ability to pass pre-employment drug tests.
• Must be a NZ citizen or permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Assist electricians on site and learn practical electrical trades.
• Develop skills through structured training and on‑the‑job learning.
• Read and interpret basic plans and wiring diagrams.
• Maintain PPE and tool kit readiness for daily use.
• Progress through milestones with wage increases as skills grow.

What You’ll Need:

• You are punctual, dependable, and show up on time every time.
• You are good with your hands and comfortable using tools.
• A strong insight into the electrical trade, backed by solid math skills (at least NCEA Level 2) and preferably some physics studies.
• Some prior job experience, whether that’s labouring, holiday work, or casual jobs.
• A current Restricted or Full New Zealand driver’s licence and reliable transport to get to work.
• A clean criminal record and the ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

Note: Completed electrical pre-trade courses or an Electrical Gateway school placement are highly regarded, but not mandatory.
