Job summary

New Zealand Government in Wellington is seeking an exceptional Team Leader for the MyHR Services team within People Capability and Culture to provide HR advice and administration to managers across the Ministry. You will lead, coach, and develop the team, ensuring high-quality responses and strong service levels.

You will use data and insights to drive improvements, oversee performance, and contribute to organisation-wide people initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience developing teams in a customer-focused environment.
• Experience managing an operational service and delivering against service standards and performance measures.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a genuine commitment to growing team members' careers.
• Proven track record leading change and continuous improvement initiatives that drive quality performance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate, with a dual focus across both process improvement and staff development.
• Lead quality assurance activities to ensure accurate, customer-focused responses.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, reviewing and refining HR processes and workflows to improve efficiency and customer outcomes.
• Use data, insights, and service metrics to identify trends, improve performance, and inform decision-making.
• Contribute to wider People Capability projects and organisational priorities.
