Briscoe Group is seeking a practical HR Adviser to provide day-to-day HR support to managers across the business and lead end-to-end recruitment. You’ll be the first point of contact for managers, offering trusted advice and helping navigate employee relations processes in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role sits within a supportive HR team, offering a busy, varied environment where you’ll make a real difference through practical solutions and hands-on involvement.

About The Role

We're looking for a practical, approachable HR Adviser to join our HR team and provide day-to-day HR support to managers across the business.

You’ll be the first point of contact for managers, providing trusted, practical advice and helping them confidently navigate day-to-day people matters and employee relations processes.

Alongside your advisory work, you'll also play an active role in end-to-end recruitment, helping our stores attract and appoint great people.

Working as part of a supportive HR team, this is a busy, varied role where you'll make a real difference through sound advice, practical solutions and a willingness to roll up your sleeves in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Provide timely, practical HR advice to managers on employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, attendance and the application of employment agreements and policies.
• Guide and support managers through investigations, disciplinary and other formal employment processes, ensuring good faith, fair process and accurate documentation.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment, including high-volume and seasonal hiring, ensuring a positive candidate and manager experience.
• Help managers build confidence in handling everyday people matters, including having early and effective conversations with their teams.
• Work closely with HR, Payroll and operational teams to ensure accurate information, consistent processes and effective HR support.
• Contribute to improvements in HR processes, policies, systems and documentation.
• Support health and safety initiatives and promote safe work practices.

What You'll Bring To The Role

• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Generalist HR experience, including employee relations advice and support.
• Strong end-to-end recruitment experience, ideally in a fast-paced or high-volume environment.
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and fair employment processes.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
• Good judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A practical, approachable and adaptable style, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
