Job summary

EVT Group's Rydges Wellington is seeking a hands-on Duty Manager to lead the Front Office during shifts, ensuring seamless operations and delivering consistently exceptional guest experiences across all touchpoints.

Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you will mentor teammates, uphold brand standards, manage guest feedback and complaints, and maintain a safe, well-run hotel environment with a proactive, customer‑focused leadership style.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Duty Manager or Front Office leadership role within a hotel environment.
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, including Front Office, guest services and revenue principles.
• Proven ability to lead teams on shift, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams.
• Confidence in handling guest feedback, complaints and complex situations.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of hotel systems and operational procedures (Opera Cloud).
• A commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences every time.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hotel on shift in the absence of the General Manager, acting as the key decision maker and hotel ambassador.
• Oversee Front Office operations while supporting wider departments to ensure seamless daily performance.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences, including smooth arrivals, departures, VIP and group stays.
• Manage guest feedback and resolve issues promptly, maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach.
• Drive a strong service culture, ensuring brand standards, presentation and team performance are consistently met.
• Monitor hotel safety, security, reporting and operational controls while supporting rostering, labour use and revenue optimisation.
