Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Security Officer for Middlemore Hospital with a commitment to safeguarding staff, patients and visitors. The role covers 24/7 protection across the Counties Manukau District, including hospital campuses, with patrols, customer service and incident handling as core duties.

The successful candidate will bring at least 1 year of security experience (healthcare preferred), a potential Level 2/3 National Certificate, and proficiency with cameras, radios,

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of security experience (healthcare setting preferred).
• Ability to obtain Level 2 and Level 3 National Certificate or appropriate qualifications.
• Ability to operate modern security technology (cameras, radios pagers, electronic locking apparatus).
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Basic computer skills (MS Outlook, MS Word).
• Ability to write clear incident reports and keep records.
• Good physical fitness for the role.
• Must be available to work on-call, rostered Monday to Sunday, over 24 hours.

Responsibilities

• Patrol sites and provide 24/7 protection across Middlemore Hospital and sites.
• Deliver customer service to staff, patients, and visitors.
• Escort staff and visitors as required and respond to security incidents.
• Prepare incident reports and follow up with the Security Coordinator.
