Job summary

Health New Zealand Waitematā is seeking a Healthcare Security Officer to patrol access points across the North Shore and Waitākere campuses. The role involves 12-hour shifts on a rotating roster, CCTV monitoring and rapid response to alarms and incidents to protect staff, patients and visitors.

The successful candidate will have strong communication, physical fitness, and hold a valid NZ driver’s licence with police vetting.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and tactful interaction with staff, patients, and visitors.
• Good physical fitness and stamina for 12-hour shifts.
• Police vetting required and a current NZ driver’s licence.
• Experience in security or emergency response is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Patrols hospital areas (ED, triage, wards) to maintain safety.
• Monitors CCTV and responds to incidents and alarms (Code Grey).
• Provides prompt, calm communication during high-pressure situations.
• Completes incident reports and handovers at shift changes.
