Job summary

Truck Stops (NZ) Ltd is seeking a hands-on Heavy Vehicle Technician in New Zealand. You will diagnose and repair mechanical issues, perform routine maintenance and inspections to keep trucks performing at their best, and mentor apprentices within a collaborative team.

Expect a minimum 40-hour week with rostered Saturdays and after-hours callouts. Travel for work and training is required on a rostered basis, with opportunities for upskilling within Sime Motors.

Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll diagnose and repair mechanical issues using cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and conduct routine maintenance, service, and inspections to keep our trucks performing at their best. You'll collaborate with experienced pros, mentor apprentices, and continuously grow your skills. This is a minimum 40 hours a week with a rostered Saturday. There is also an expectation to work after hours callouts as needed on a rostered basis, and flexibility to travel for work and training as and when required.

What We’re Looking For

• Hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks
• A strong commitment to safety and a proactive mindset
• Excellent problem-solving skills to tackle challenges head-on
• Ideally, a Class 5 HT license (we can help you get it!)
• NZQA in Heavy Road Transport or Heavy Plant & Equipment Reliability and willingness to commit to the team
