Job summary

Truck Stops (NZ) Ltd, a Sime Motors subsidiary, is seeking a skilled technician to diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks, conduct routine maintenance, and support the workshop team.

You will work rostered Saturdays with after-hours callouts and occasional travel for training, joining a collaborative team with career growth opportunities within Sime Motors.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a proactive mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • NZQA in Heavy Road Transport or Heavy Plant & Equipment Reliability required.
  • Class 5 HT license or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy trucks.
  • Perform routine maintenance, service and inspections.
  • Mentor apprentices and share knowledge with the team.
  • Rostered Saturday work and after-hours callouts as needed.
  • Travel for work and training as required.

Job description

Company : Truck Stops (NZ) Ltd Truckstops is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Motors. Established in 1984, Truckstops has provided unparalleled after-sales parts and service support to the road transport industry for over 30 years. With 20 nationwide branches supporting Hino, Mack, Renault, and Volvo Truck & Bus, we have grown to become the largest supplier of truck & bus parts and workshop services in New Zealand.

Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll diagnose and repair mechanical issues using cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and conduct routine maintenance, service, and inspections to keep our trucks performing at their best. You'll collaborate with experienced pros, mentor apprentices, and continuously grow your skills. This is a minimum 40 hours a week with a rostered Saturday. There is also an expectation to work after hours callouts as needed on a rostered basis, and flexibility to travel for work and training as and when required.
