Job summary

Truck Stops (NZ) Ltd in Nelson is seeking a skilled heavy vehicle technician to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on our fleet of trucks. You’ll carry out routine maintenance, service checks and inspections to keep gear performing at peak.

You’ll mentor apprentices, work with a supportive team, and participate in after-hours callouts on a rostered basis. A Class 5 HT license is preferred; we can assist you to obtain it.

• Hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks.
• Strong commitment to safety and proactive mindset.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll diagnose and repair mechanical issues using cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and conduct routine maintenance, service, and inspections to keep our trucks performing at their best. You’ll collaborate with experienced pros, mentor apprentices, and continuously grow your skills.

This is a minimum 40 hours a week with a rostered Saturday. There is also an expectation to work after hours callouts as needed on a rostered basis, and flexibility to travel for work and training as and when required.
