Job summary

Firth in Hamilton is seeking a reliable Truck Maintenance Technician to service and maintain our truck fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable and road-ready for daily operations.

The role suits someone with a diesel mechanical background who enjoys hands-on maintenance, schedule servicing, inspections, and basic repairs in a well-equipped workshop with ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle servicing.
  • Clear understanding of truck maintenance requirements and safety.
  • Good communication in English and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled truck servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Perform engine oil and filter changes
  • Conduct routine inspections and safety checks
  • Replace worn components such as belts, hoses, filters, and lights
  • Identify and report basic mechanical issues
  • Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
  • Ensure the workshop remains clean, safe, and well organised

Are you practical, hands-on, and passionate about keeping trucks and heavy vehicles operating at their best?

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Truck Maintenance Technician to join our team in Hamilton. This role is ideal for someone with a diesel mechanical background who enjoys working on trucks and heavy vehicles and is confident carrying out routine servicing and maintenance activities.

As part of our workshop team, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing our truck fleet to ensure vehicles remain safe, reliable, and road-ready.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out scheduled truck servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Perform engine oil and filter changes
  • Conduct routine inspections and safety checks
  • Replace worn components such as belts, hoses, filters, and lights
  • Identify and report basic mechanical issues
  • Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
  • Ensure the workshop remains clean, safe, and well organised
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in diesel mechanics, truck servicing, heavy transport, or a related field
  • Strong communication skills and a good understanding of English.
  • Sound understanding of truck maintenance requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
  • Full driver's licence (Class 2 or above is advantageous)
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
