Job summary

Truckstops is seeking an experienced technician based in Taupo to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy-duty trucks. You will perform routine maintenance, service and inspections to keep fleet vehicles reliable, while mentoring apprentices and collaborating with the team.

The role emphasizes safety, problem solving, and a commitment to upskilling within the Sime Motors group. Applicants may hold a Class 5 license and NZQA LV4 in relevant Heavy Transport qualification.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a proactive mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to tackle challenges head-on.
  • NZQA LV4 in Heavy Road Transport or Heavy Plant & Equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on trucks using diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, service, and inspections to keep trucks performing at their best.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians and mentor apprentices.
  • Support adherence to safety standards and quality workmanship.

The Role

With the addition of Volvo Truck & Bus and UD Trucks to our existing franchises we are looking for experienced technicians with a passion for our brands.

Based in Taupo and reporting to the Service Foreman, you'll diagnose and repair mechanical issues using cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and conduct routine maintenance, service, and inspections to keep our trucks performing at their best. You'll collaborate with experienced pros, mentor apprentices, and continuously grow your skills.
