An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced data leader to join NZ Post as our Head of Data. Following an internal promotion, we're looking for someone who can build on the significant progress already made and lead the next phase of our data journey. This isn't a turnaround role. The foundations are in place, the team is thriving, and now it's about evolving our capability, unlocking greater value from our data assets, and scaling the use of modern data and AI technologies across the organisation.
Reporting to the General Manager Data & Enterprise Architecture, you'll lead a talented team across data engineering, governance, architecture, information management and platform operations. You'll oversee our enterprise data ecosystem, drive our information governance agenda, optimise our data platforms, and partner with leaders across NZ Post to ensure data and AI capabilities support both current priorities and future opportunities.
You’ll do that by:
As an experienced data and analytics leader, you'll bring the credibility, commercial judgement and strategic perspective to operate at a senior enterprise level. With at least 10 years' experience across data, analytics, data platforms, architecture or information management, you're ready to step into a role with broad accountability, significant influence and the opportunity to shape what's next. You'll combine an enterprise mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and delivery, confidently influencing outcomes across business, technology and executive stakeholders.
Success in this position doesn't require you to be the deepest technical expert in the room. Instead, you'll have a strong understanding of modern data platforms, an ability to connect strategy with practical outcomes, and the confidence to engage effectively with both technical specialists and senior business leaders. Equally important is your ability to bring people together, create clarity and enable others to succeed. Commercially astute and highly collaborative, you'll know how to balance technology, people and business priorities to deliver meaningful results.
You’ll also bring:
