Job summary

NZ Ski Limited is seeking reliable personnel to support roading projects at The Remarkables. The role combines Traffic Management duties with General Labouring to ensure safe, efficient operations on the access road. You will assist with vehicle flow, site safety, and routine tasks under supervision.

The position requires a full NZ driver’s licence, the ability to work in alpine conditions, and good communication skills. PPE and transport arrangements provided.

Qualifications

• Full NZ driver’s licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles.
• Good communication skills and confidence directing traffic.
• Physically fit and able to work in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, monitor, and pack down temporary traffic management for the worksite.
• Manage vehicle flow around the construction zone to ensure safety for road users and contractors.
• Communicate clearly with oncoming traffic and stop vehicles when required.
• Monitor weather and adjust traffic management as needed.
• Ensure signage, cones, barriers, and radios are used correctly and remain compliant with site requirements.
• Assist with basic earthworks and general labour tasks as required.
• Support site preparation, cleanup, drainage, and materials handling.

We are seeking reliable and safety-focused team members to support mutiple roading projects at The Remarkables. This role combines Traffic Management duties with General Labouring to ensure the safe and efficient operation of works on the access road.

These staff will assist with managing vehicle flow, supporting contractors, maintaining safe work zones, and carrying out manual tasks as required.

About the role:

Traffic Management

• Set up, monitor, and pack down temporary traffic management (TTM) for the worksite
• Manage vehicle flow around the construction zone to ensure safety for road users and contractors
• Communicate clearly with oncoming traffic, including stopping vehicles when required
• Monitor weather and changing conditions to adjust TTM as needed
• Ensure signage, cones, barriers, and radios are used correctly and remain compliant with site requirements

General Labouring

• Assist with basic earthworks support such as moving materials, tools, and equipment
• Help contractors with ground preparation, site clean-up, and basic tasks
• Support drainage and fill-management tasks around the cut as needed
• Maintain a tidy, safe, and compliant work area throughout the day
• Carry out any additional tasks requested by supervisors to support project progress

About you:

• Full NZ driver’s licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles confidently
• Experience in alpine or construction environments preferred
• Good communication skills and confidence directing traffic
• Physically fit and able to work in varied weather, including rain and cold
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions

Further Information:

• Standard day shift, approx. 6:30am – 5:00pm (weather and workload dependent)
• Work will proceed in all safe conditions, including rain
• Vehicle provided for transport to/from site and for shelter during adverse conditions
