Job summary

Men At Work Building and Maintenance in Christchurch is seeking an organised Coordinator to bring the right people, gear and paperwork to the right place at the right time. You’ll link clients, crews and the office, owning jobs from enquiry to sign-off.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will plan crews and equipment, handle client requests, ensure sites are safe, manage schedules and keep records up to date. A strong safety mindset and solid communication are essential.

• Experience coordinating people, jobs or resources in a busy operational environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping anything.
• A confident communicator who can hold conversations with clients and crews.
• Genuine commitment to health and safety.
• Comfortable with scheduling systems and general computer work.

Responsibilities

• Make sure every site is set up safely and to standard.
• Keep our health and safety systems ticking over, including toolbox talks, site checks and incident follow up.
• Sort the problems that come up when a job changes at short notice, because they always do.
• Keep schedules, records and job information accurate.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is the role that gets the right people, gear and paperwork to the right place at the right time. You are the link between our clients, our crews and the office, and you own jobs from the moment they land to the moment they are signed off.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, day to day you will:

• Plan and co-ordinate crews, vehicles and equipment across live jobs
• Be a first point of contact for clients, taking job requests and keeping them in the loop
• Make sure every site is set up safely and to standard
• Keep our health and safety systems ticking over, including toolbox talks, site checks and incident follow up
• Sort the problems that come up when a job changes at short notice, because they always do
• Keep schedules, records and job information accurate

This is a full time role of at least 8 hours a day, generally worked between 6am and 6pm. Road work starts early, so there will be early starts at times and we would rather be upfront about that now.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

We care more about how you organise and how you deal with people than what industry you have come from.

• Experience co-ordinating people, jobs or resources in a busy operational environment. Civil, construction, transport, logistics, trades or events all translate well
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping anything
• A confident communicator who can hold a straight conversation with a client one minute and a crew the next
• Genuine commitment to health and safety
• Comfortable with scheduling systems and general computer work

ADVANTAGEOUS, but not required

Advantageous, but not required:

• Some knowledge of traffic management or the civil sector. You do not need to have worked in TM. If you know your way around a TMP or have spent time on a road corridor it will help you get up to speed faster, but we will train the right person
• Experience in a health and safety focused role
• A TC or STMS qualification, or an interest in gaining one
