Job summary

Triangle Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to join our Auckland Service & Testing team. The role focuses on testing, servicing, programming, fault finding, maintenance and remedial works on fire alarm systems across commercial facilities.

You will work independently on existing buildings and with clients, joining a team with a strong workload, long-term stability and ongoing opportunities for technical skill development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience with fire alarm, fire detection, or related electrical/electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated practical experience installing, testing, commissioning and/or fault finding fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation.
  • Good practical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • A current driver's licence, or the ability to obtain a New Zealand driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Installing fire alarm systems, devices, cabling and associated equipment.
  • Testing, commissioning and fault finding fire alarm systems.
  • Carrying out service, maintenance and remedial works.
  • Reading and interpreting construction, electrical and fire alarm drawings.
  • Completing testing, QA documentation and as-built information.
  • Coordinating installation requirements with project managers, supervisors and contractors.
  • Ensuring installations comply with NZ Standards, project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
  • Working safely on active construction sites, including at height and with access equipment.

TFP is looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to join our Auckland Service & Testing team. Working across a diverse portfolio of commercial and complex facilities, this is a hands-on role focused on testing, servicing, programming, fault finding, maintenance and remedial works on fire alarm and associated systems.

We’re looking for someone technically capable, reliable and confident working independently on existing buildings and directly with clients. About the role

Working across Auckland existing buildings, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, fault finding and maintenance of fire alarm and associated systems.

Key responsibilities
  • Installing fire alarm systems, devices, cabling and associated equipment.
  • Testing, commissioning and fault finding fire alarm systems.
  • Carrying out service, maintenance and remedial works.
  • Reading and interpreting construction, electrical and fire alarm drawings.
  • Completing testing, QA documentation and as-built information.
  • Working with project managers, supervisors, other trades and contractors to coordinate installation requirements.
  • Ensuring installations comply with relevant New Zealand Standards, project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
  • Working safely on active construction sites, including working at height and using access equipment where required.
  • Representing TFP professionally with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
About you

A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience working with fire alarm, fire detection or closely related electrical/electronic systems.

Demonstrated practical experience installing, testing, commissioning and/or fault finding fire alarm systems.

The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation.

Good practical and technical problem-solving skills.

A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

A current driver's licence, or the ability to obtain a New Zealand driver's licence.
