Select Alarms in Hamilton is seeking a Senior Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join our Waikato team. The role covers installation, commissioning, and service of fire systems across Hamilton and wider Waikato regions.

You will study plans, ensure on-site efficiency, and mentor trainees to uphold our safety standards. The successful candidate will have 2+ years of installation experience and hold NZS 4512 competence, a current NZ driver’s license (manual vehicle capable), and SiteSafe

Qualifications

  • Experience installing fire alarm systems in medium to large projects.
  • Competence with NZ fire standards (NZS 4512).
  • Valid NZ driver’s license required; ability to drive manual vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and service fire alarm systems and components.
  • Identify on-site issues affecting completion of work.
  • Conduct testing during commissioning or repair work.
  • Study plans, drawings, specs and work orders to plan the work.
  • Plan effective use of resources on site.
  • Provide support to engineering and service teams.
  • Collaborate with the Select Alarms team and colleagues.
  • Mentor trainees and provide on-the-job training to less experienced staff.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture on site.

We seek a Senior Fire Alarm Installation Technician for installation and service roles to join our friendly Hamilton Waikato team.

This role will be based in Hamilton, but there will be times when you need to provide a service to the wider Waikato, King Country, and Coromandel regions.

Key Tasks include:
  • Install, fit off and commission or repair fire systems, equipment and components.
  • Identify on the job issues that may impact on completion of work.
  • Carry out appropriate testing as needed when commissioning or repairing systems.
  • Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and or installations.
  • Plan best utilisation of resources on site
  • Provide support to the engineering and service teams
  • Work cooperatively with rest of Select Alarms team members.
  • Mentor trainees
  • Provide on job training to trainees and lessor experienced staff.
Health and Safety:
  • Provide leadership in health and safety supporting a positive health and safety culture.
  • Health and Safety Legislation and Management Systems are adhered to.
  • Complete Health and Safety related documentation.
  • Run site toolbox meetings and project SSSP’s.
  • Accidents and near misses reported.
What we are looking for:
  • Need to be competent in Fire Standards - NZS 4512
  • Hold a valid NZ drivers license
  • Two plus years installation experience in medium to large installation projects
  • Commercial and Industrial experience in fire systems
  • Hold or able to obtain a current SiteSafe accreditation
  • Must hold a valid drivers licence and must be able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Must be willing to work on tools and be tool ready (some tools are supplied and will be discussed in interview)
