Job summary

Ethical Power New Zealand is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the finance function during parental leave. This hands-on leadership role reports to the NZ Managing Director and collaborates with the UK CFO to manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury and compliance for NZ operations and subsidiaries.

The successful candidate will bring 6–8 years of senior accounting experience, CAANZ qualification, NZ IFRS expertise, and a proven ability to lead project

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong NZ IFRS knowledge and audit exposure.
• Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure or project-based businesses desirable.
• CAANZ qualification is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly management accounts and financial reporting for NZ entities and subsidiaries.
• Coordinate consolidated reporting for the NZ group and reporting to the UK parent.
• Prepare annual financial statements under NZ IFRS RDR.
• Coordinate first-year external audit and manage auditor relationships.
• Ensure compliance with NZ tax obligations (GST, income tax, PAYE, FBT).
• Work with project managers to oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial performance.
• Lead weekly cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes across the NZ business.
