Job summary

Robert Half Finance & Accounting is recruiting for a Financial Controller to lead the integrity, governance and continuous improvement of the finance function in a nationally recognised organisation in New Zealand. The role partners with senior leaders and drives budgeting, forecasting, commercial insights and strategic investment decisions in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• CA ANZ qualification or equivalent is required.
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior financial control, reporting or technical accounting responsibilities.
• Proven experience leading and developing finance professionals.
• Strong expertise across financial reporting, audit, controls, treasury and compliance.
• Advanced financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability.
• Experience influencing senior leaders and presenting financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong ERP experience and systems knowledge, including transformation projects.
• Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on better business outcomes.

The Role

Reporting to the GM Finance & Digital, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the integrity, governance, performance and continuous improvement of the finance function while partnering closely with senior leaders across the organisation.

You'll be the senior technical finance leader responsible for financial reporting, audit, controls, treasury, compliance and financial governance, while also playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, business modelling, investment analysis and strategic decision-making.

Leading a small team, you will provide trusted advice to senior executives and governance stakeholders while driving financial performance, risk management and process improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Your Profile

You will be an experienced finance leader who combines technical excellence with commercial acumen and strong stakeholder management skills.

To be successful, you'll bring:

• Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) qualification or equivalent
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior financial control, reporting or technical accounting responsibilities
• Proven experience leading and developing finance professionals
• Strong expertise across financial reporting, audit, controls, treasury and compliance
• Advanced financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability
• Experience influencing senior leaders and presenting financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
• Strong systems and ERP experience, ideally including system implementation or transformation projects
• A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for driving better business outcomes
