Job summary

Robert Half Finance & Accounting is recruiting for a Financial Controller to lead the integrity, governance and continuous improvement of the finance function in a nationally recognised organisation in New Zealand. The role partners with senior leaders and drives budgeting, forecasting, commercial insights and strategic investment decisions in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• CA ANZ qualification or equivalent is required.
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior financial control, reporting or technical accounting responsibilities.
• Proven experience leading and developing finance professionals.
• Strong expertise across financial reporting, audit, controls, treasury and compliance.
• Advanced financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability.
• Experience influencing senior leaders and presenting financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong ERP experience and systems knowledge, including transformation projects.
• Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on better business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
• Own monthly, annual and statutory financial reporting.
• Lead the external audit process and manage key advisor relationships.
• Maintain a strong financial control and risk management framework.
• Oversee treasury, cashflow management and banking relationships.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning processes.
• Develop financial models, business cases and profitability analysis.
• Partner with business leaders to provide commercial insights and performance improvement recommendations.
• Drive finance systems enhancements, automation initiatives and process improvements.
• Support strategic projects, organisational change and investment decisions.
