Job description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function in New Zealand while providing strategic financial support and oversight across Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Finance Director APAC, this role combines hands‑on financial leadership with business partnering, regional reporting, finance transformation, and strategic project involvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving financial performance, strengthening governance, and supporting major business initiatives across the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead all financial control, accounting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities for New Zealand.
• Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to the Finance Director APAC and regional leadership team.
• Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and risk management practices are maintained.
• Perform Company Secretary responsibilities and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Manage taxation, cash flow, working capital, credit policies, and financial controls.
• Build and maintain relationships with auditors, banks, legal advisers, and external stakeholders.

Regional Financial Support (Australia & New Zealand)

• Support consolidated financial reporting and performance analysis across Australia and New Zealand.
• Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to APAC leadership and the parent company.
• Prepare executive‑level financial analysis, commentary, and presentations to support decision‑making.
• Provide financial modelling and commercial analysis for significant business initiatives and investments.

Strategic Projects & Business Partnering

• Partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities for growth, profitability, and performance improvement.
• Evaluate acquisitions, capital investments, business cases, and strategic opportunities.
• Support post‑investment reviews and provide recommendations to maximise returns.

Finance Transformation & Continuous Improvement

• Play a leading role in finance transformation initiatives, including SAP implementation and process improvement projects.
• Drive automation, standardisation, and reporting enhancements across the finance function.
• Champion best‑practice finance processes and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations across Australia and New Zealand.

WHAT YOU BRING

• CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager, or Finance Business Partner leadership role.
• Strong technical accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial planning expertise.
• Experience supporting multi‑site or multi‑country operations.
• Strong analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP is a must
