Job summary

Mercury is seeking a seasoned leader to drive an enterprise-wide learning and capability strategy across our diverse NZ footprint. You will build scalable programmes, govern learning activities, and partner with the Organisational Development team to shape a high-performing culture.

You’ll lead a small L&D team, design organisation-wide learning strategies, and leverage data to prove impact while managing budgets and external partners. Flexible NZ-based hybrid work offered.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in enterprise-level learning and development or People Experience roles.
• Experience designing and delivering organisation-wide learning strategies.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across all business levels.
• Experience using learning technologies and data to evaluate effectiveness.
• Strong programme management, prioritisation and commercial skills.
• Experience managing external partners, contracts and budgets.
• Collaborative and inclusive leadership approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Mercury’s enterprise learning and capability strategy.
• Establish frameworks identifying current and future workforce capability needs.
• Lead modern, scalable and digitally enabled learning programmes.
• Strengthen governance and consistency across learning and development activity.
• Support capability uplift for digital, AI and technology-enabled ways of working.
• Partner with the OD team on leadership, talent and organisational initiatives.
• Use learning data and measures to understand impact and improve our approach.
• Manage learning systems, external providers, budgets and partner performance.
• Lead, coach and develop a small team of L&D specialists.
• Engage with stakeholders across all levels to drive learning initiatives.
