The Ministry of Social Development’s Historic Claims team seeks an Information Coordination and Claims Specialist to assess individual claims and manage personal information requests. You will work within an assessment framework to inform decision making and deliver support to claimants who have experienced abuse in state care.

You will read and interpret large volumes of information, ensuring privacy compliance while maintaining empathy and client-focused service.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of the applicable legislation i.e. Privacy Act 2020.
• Able to prioritise work to achieve results with attention to detail and synthesise large amounts of information whilst working under an established assessment framework.
• Demonstrated excellence in the provision of client-focused, administrative and corporate advice and services to managers and staff.
• Exemplary standard of written and oral communication, emotional intelligence and logical reasoning skills.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy, and understand client needs, concerns and priorities.
• The ability to read, absorb and interpret large amounts of information (up to 300 pages) on a daily basis.
• Be committed to the Treaty of Waitangi and the development of a service that is culturally responsive and incorporates tikanga Māori.
• Ensure all relevant information is recorded through the assessment and information coordination process to support delivery of the Historic Claims service.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience is an advantage.

Responsabilités

• Assess claims against the Historic Claims assessment framework and provide recommendations to support decision making.
• Provide timely responses to information requests and release claimants’ personal information in compliance with legislation.
• Coordinate information to support the Historic Claims service and help claimants understand past experiences in care.
• Collaborate with a team to deliver best outcomes for claimants who have experienced abuse in State care.
