Job summary

Copthorne Hotel Wellington Oriental Bay, part of Millennium Hotels and Resorts NZ, is seeking a confident Duty Manager to lead the Front Office and deliver seamless guest experiences in a fast-paced setting.

You will oversee shifts, handle arrivals/departures, reservations, and coordinate with housekeeping to ensure service excellence. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy hotel environment with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hotel reception experience.

About the Role

As Duty Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our Front Office operations — ensuring every guest experience is seamless, welcoming, and memorable.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Leading and supporting the Front Office team during shifts
• Managing guest arrivals, departures, and enquiries
• Handling reservations and coordinating with housekeeping
• Resolving guest concerns with professionalism and care
• Ensuring smooth hotel operations and service excellence at all times

This is a hands-on role where your ability to think quickly, stay calm under pressure, and lead by example will truly shine.

About You

You’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and genuinely loves working with people.

You’ll bring:

• At least 2 year of hotel reception experience
• A vibrant, engaging personality and strong customer focus
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• You have been in a similar role or worked in a Hotel for a good amount of time
• Good understanding of how Hotels run & you are proactive
• A proactive, can-do attitude and strong attention to detail
• Flexibility to work across a rotating roster (including weekends and evenings)

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with Opera Cloud
• LCQ and General Manager’s Certificate
• First Aid Certificate
