Job summary

Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas invites applications for a full-time Duty Manager to lead guest services and hotel operations in Te Anau, Fiordland. The role offers a minimum of 30 hours per week with an hourly rate of NZD 30–32, depending on experience.

You will oversee front desk, supervise staff, handle guest inquiries and ensure smooth day-to-day hotel operations. This hands-on leadership position requires exceptional guest service and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a Duty Manager, Supervisor or senior hotel reception role
• Strong people-management and leadership skills

We are looking for an experienced Duty Manager to join our team in a full-time, permanent position, with a minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week with an hourly rate from $30 to $32 per hour, depending on experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role, working on a shift roster, where you will oversee the smooth running of the hotel, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our hotel, contributing to the overall guest experience and the success of the business.

About the role

As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our guests receive friendly, professional and efficient service throughout their stay. You will lead by example, support your team and confidently manage the day-to-day challenges that come with a busy hotel environment.

Responsibilities

• 2 years' experience in a Duty Manager, Supervisor or senior hotel reception role or ready to take the next step
• Strong people-management and leadership skills
• Excellent conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities
• Solid knowledge of hotel reception and front office operations
• A professional, friendly and approachable manner
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A strong focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences
