Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a Despatch & Weighbridge Coordinator to join our Christchurch team. This role connects customers, drivers and operations to schedule jobs and move vehicles and materials safely.

You’ll manage daily dispatch, monitor routes, handle delays, and maintain accurate records while delivering high standards of service. Experience in despatch or logistics and proficiency with Excel and CRM systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in despatch, transport, logistics or a similar operational role.
• Strong customer service experience and a professional communication style.
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
• The resilience to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and learning new systems quickly.
• Detail-oriented with documentation, pricing and operational data.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team.
• Commitment to health, safety and doing things the right way.
• Experience with CRM or ERP systems such as Salesforce, Elemos or JDE is useful.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling and allocating daily jobs across our services.
• Monitoring routes and job progress to ensure safety and timeliness.
• Responding quickly to delays, rejections, reallocations or rescheduling.
• Keeping drivers, customers and internal teams informed of changes.
• Reviewing routes and identifying opportunities to improve productivity.
• Coordinating vehicles and materials moving on and off site through the weighbridge.
• Directing site traffic and ensuring safe vehicle movements.
• Checking waste declarations, Safety Data Sheets and required documentation.
• Completing weighbridge transactions, price checks and reporting.
• Responding to customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.
• Maintaining accurate records and delivering high standards of service.
