Job summary

Bapcor Limited is looking for a proactive Credit Controller to join our Finance team in Auckland. You will manage the accounts receivable ledger, target collections, reduce debtor risk and support branches and sales teams to uphold credit policies.

In this role, you will build strong customer relationships, monitor 60/90-day balances, handle credit holds and disputes, and contribute to reporting and process improvements across NZ operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or a related finance role.
• Strong understanding of debtor management, collections processes and credit risk.
• Experience managing high-volume customer accounts and working towards collection targets.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office applications.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer accounts and proactively contact customers with overdue balances to achieve collection targets.
• Monitor aged debtor ledger, focusing on 60- and 90-day balances.
• Manage credit holds, stop accounts and payment arrangements with timely follow-up.
• Collaborate with Branch Managers, Sales Teams and Business Unit Managers to improve collection outcomes and manage credit risk.
• Investigate and resolve account queries, disputed transactions and outstanding balances.
• Liaise with debt collection agencies and legal representatives when required.
• Prepare and distribute monthly debtors and collections reports, including Aged Trial Balance and doubtful debt reporting.
• Upload and reconcile bank statements and process customer payments and credit card transactions.
• Allocate and reconcile customer payments accurately and efficiently.
• Support maintenance and review of company credit policies and procedures.
• Identify, monitor and report material debtor risks to management.
• Assist with new account setup and provide support across Accounts Receivable.
• Participate in business improvement initiatives and projects to support growth and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
