Job summary

• 3–5 years of construction project management experience in New Zealand or equivalent
• Knowledge of NZ Building Code, health and safety regulations, and council approval processes
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with project management software and MS Office suite

Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret construction drawings and project specifications to inform delivery
• Plan mobilization of site labour, contractors, materials, and equipment
• Supervise construction activity across multiple job sites to meet milestones and safety standards
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants and site personnel to solve problems
• Coordinate logistics, procurement schedules and supplier timelines to prevent delays
• Track and report progress, budgets and risks, addressing variances
• Liaise with clients, developers and councils to facilitate approvals and inspections
• Administer tenders and contract documentation aligned with project objectives
• Manage relationships with subcontractors and ensure performance
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in site operations

Position Summary

To drive our construction projects forward, we are seeking a skilled Construction Project Manager. It is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering building and construction projects from inception to completion. You will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensure that works meet New Zealand building legislation and standards, and lead a team of subcontractors and technical professionals to deliver outcomes that exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret construction drawings and project specifications to inform and guide delivery
• Plan and oversee the mobilisation of site labour, contractors, materials, and equipment
• Supervise construction activity across multiple job sites, ensuring milestones, quality benchmarks, and safety standards are met
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and site personnel to solve problems and maintain workflow
• Coordinate logistics, procurement schedules, and supplier timelines to prevent delays
• Track and report on progress, budgets, and risks, proactively addressing variances
• Liaise with clients, developers, and local councils to facilitate approvals and inspections
• Administer tenders and contract documentation, ensuring clarity and alignment with project objectives
• Manage relationships with subcontractors and ensure their work aligns with performance expectations
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continual enhancement of site operations
• Ensure site documentation, compliance records, and reporting meet New Zealand regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (NZQF Level 7 or higher)
• At least 3–5 years of experience in construction project management in New Zealand or equivalent international experience
• Strong knowledge of the NZ Building Code, health and safety regulations, and council approval processes
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with project management software and MS Office suite
