Job summary

Ryman Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse with APC to lead and grow a dedicated care team at the James Wattie Retirement Village in Havelock North. You will oversee nursing, care and auxiliary staff, champion safe, person-centred care and drive continuous improvement through audits and metrics.

You will coach large multidisciplinary teams, manage risks, and collaborate with residents and families to ensure exceptional care experiences while supporting the Village Manager in daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with APC and clinical leadership experience (aged care preferred).
  • interRAI trained.
  • Experienced clinical leader able to lead, coach and develop large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong clinical judgement delivering safe outcomes in complex environments.
  • Experience in clinical risk management, audits and maintaining care standards compliance.
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement using data/indicators.
  • Build relationships with residents, families and teams with empathy and professionalism.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to manage competing demands.
  • Practical understanding of resource management including staffing and consumables.
  • Confident and clear communicator collaborating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement through audit outcomes, clinical indicators, and Quality Improvement Plans.
  • Identify and manage clinical risks, ensuring timely escalation, response, and corrective actions.
  • Build strong relationships with residents and families for a positive care experience.
  • Support the Village Manager and contribute to day-to-day village operations.

About The Role

Based at our beautiful James Wattie Retirement Village in Havelock North, you will use all your nursing and leadership skills to:

  • Provide strong clinical leadership and oversight to nursing, care, and auxiliary teams across the village
  • Lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care in line with professional and regulatory standards
  • Build, develop and coach a high-performing team that is engaged, capable, and committed to delivering exceptional care
  • Ensure clinical policies, procedures, and quality standards are consistently applied and maintained
  • Drive continuous improvement through audit outcomes, clinical indicators, and Quality Improvement Plans
  • Identify and manage clinical risks, ensuring timely escalation, response, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with residents and their families, ensuring a positive and responsive care experience
  • Support the Village Manager and contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the village

This is a Full-Time role working Tuesday - Saturday 0800 - 1630.

About You

To thrive in our supportive and caring environment you will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with a current APC, with proven experience in a clinical leadership role (aged care experience preferred)
  • interRAI trained
  • Be an experienced clinical leader with the ability to lead, coach, and develop large, multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgement and the ability to deliver safe, consistent outcomes in complex environments
  • Have sound experience in clinical risk management, audit processes, and maintaining compliance with care standards
  • Bring a strong focus on continuous improvement, with experience using data or clinical indicators to drive better outcomes
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with residents, families, and teams, managing with empathy and professionalism
  • Demonstrate sound organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands effectively
  • Have a practical understanding of resource management, including staffing, consumables, and service delivery needs
  • Be a confident and clear communicator who works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
