Job summary

Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking experienced Class 5 Drivers to join our logistics team in Wellington. You will transport freight safely and efficiently across designated routes, maintain vehicle standards, and deliver excellent customer service.

The role requires a NZ Class 5 Licence, a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently. Forklift experience is a bonus. You will report to dispatch and follow road safety and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid NZ Class 5 Driver Licence with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience in freight or logistics driving roles.
• Strong understanding of road safety and transport compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 5 vehicles for metro and/or linehaul deliveries.
• Complete daily pre-start checks and basic vehicle inspections.
• Ensure freight is loaded, secured, and transported safely.
• Complete delivery documentation and run sheets.
• Maintain clear, professional communication with dispatch and operations.
• Follow all road safety, transport, and compliance requirements.

About the Role

As a Class 5 Driver, you will be responsible for transporting freight safely and efficiently across designated routes while ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating Class 5 vehicles for metro and/or linehaul deliveries
• Completing daily pre-start checks and basic vehicle inspections
• Ensuring freight is loaded, secured, and transported safely
• Completing delivery documentation, run sheets, and other required paperwork
• Maintaining clear and professional communication with dispatch and operations teams
• Following all relevant road safety, transport, and compliance requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Valid NZ Class 5 Driver Licence with a clean driving record
• Proven experience in a similar driving role; logistics or freight experience preferred
• Strong understanding of road safety and transport compliance requirements
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Physically fit, with the ability to undertake some manual handling when required
• Forklift licence is advantageous but not essential
• A professional attitude and strong commitment to safety and service
