Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island Limited in Ashburton is hiring a Checkout Supervisor to lead our checkout team in a fast-paced store environment. You will deliver friendly, efficient service while ensuring the front end runs safely and smoothly.

You will coach staff, handle cash with accuracy, and help create a welcoming atmosphere for customers and colleagues. This full-time role requires flexibility to work a range of hours and a willingness to learn store procedures.

Checkout Supervisor (New World Ashburton)

Full-Time

We’re looking for a motivated and people focused Checkout Supervisor to help lead our Checkout team. If you enjoy working in a fast paced environment, love delivering excellent customer service, and have a knack for keeping things running smoothly, this could be the perfect role for you.

As a Checkout Supervisor, you’ll be the go‑to support for our checkout team—ensuring customers receive friendly, efficient service and that the front end operates safely and smoothly throughout the day. You’ll lead by example, support staff on the floor, and help create a positive, welcoming environment for both customers and colleagues. This is a hands‑on leadership role where no two days are the same.

• Confident leadership skills and the ability to support and motivate a team
• Clear, respectful communication and a positive attitude
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with cash handling
• Ability to stay calm, organised, and solution‑focused under pressureExcellent time management and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
• Reliability, integrity, and a proactive approach to daily responsibilities
• A team‑focused mindset that contributes to a supportive, safe, and positive work culture
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of your role
• Flexibility to work additional or extended hours when required
• A current Lotto certification and/or Liquor Licence would be an advantage, but is not essential however, you must be willing to obtain these for the role

Days & Hours of Work:

• Tuesday 12:30pm – 9:00pm
• Thursday 10:00am – 6:30pm
• Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm
• Saturday 7:0am – 3:30pm
